Brake question

I just had a question about the emergency brake, but I don't know the answer.

If there is no brake fluid getting to the rear drums, will the emergency brake still work? I know that there is a fluid leak on the main line. So I know there is no fluid at the rear brakes.

Could this keep the emergency brake from holding? I thought the emergency brake was purely mechanical, so that you had brakes in case of a loss of brake fluid.

The manuals don't say.

As far as I know..meaing do't scream obsenities about me when you are headed fora wall doing 120 mph with one hand on the EM brake.....it IS entirely mechanical, and will work regardless of the content/presence of fluid. Not sure how familiar you are with Em brake liones and stuff, but when you pull the handle in the car, it pulls a wire that is connected to the brakes. This wire causes the shoes to contact the drums. No fluid involved.

That is how I THINK this should be working. All the pieces seem to be in place, but these are 37 year old brakes that might well have never been opened up...

I know it has never had any front brake work because the drums are still riveted to the backing plate, the way the came off of the assembly line.

Yes the E-Brakes are manual cables to the rear drums and activate the shoes manually so it will work TRUST ME I HAVE TESTED IT heh long story, As for the whole brake lines not comming off I TOTALLY know what you mean it took me about 2 hours to get the little line from the MC to the prop valve off finally did and now I cant seem to find anywhere that has them for sale :(
